Miami put up 86 first-half points against the Grizzlies

Miami Heat earned a crushing 146 to 114 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies in their first NBA game since guard Rozier was detained for suspected illegal gambling.

Portland Trail Blazers coach Billups was also arrested in connection with a sweeping FBI probe into illegal gambling. The two individuals deny the allegations.

However, the Heat were focused as they put up eighty-six opening half points to lead the Grizzlies by 39 after two quarters, the biggest halftime lead in the team's 37 year existence.

Adebayo led the way with twenty-four points and afterwards said Terry had the support of the team.

"We stand behind him. Full support," Adebayo said. "We are with him all the way. He's like family at the end of the day."

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra commented: "Rozier is somebody who is very dear to everyone. He's had a beneficial influence on our locker room.

"Our thoughts are with him and our care for him as he faces the situation."

The Trail Blazers also secured their initial match since the arrests, with Brazilian Tiago Splitter stepping in as temporary head coach in Chauncey's absence and guiding the team to a decisive 139 to 119 win over the Golden State Warriors.

"Everyone experienced positive times with Billups and his coaching style," Tiago remarked. "We're thinking of him and his loved ones but our focus is on the game."

League Commissioner Silver 'Upset' over Recent Events

Speaking about the detentions for the initial occasion, league head Silver said he was "deeply disturbed" by the incidents of the recent days.

"Nothing is more critical to the NBA and supporters than the integrity of the competition," he informed a broadcaster. "Therefore I had a pit in my stomach. It was very upsetting."

Silver further said an league probe into Rozier's conduct in spring 2023, when there was "aberrational betting" in a match he played for the Charlotte Hornets versus the Pelicans, found nothing untoward.

"It was brought to our attention by the authorities and the gambling firms," he added.

"We investigated that situation and were open regarding it. Although there was that aberrational betting, we, frankly, couldn't find anything.

"The federal government has subpoena power... [it] can threaten to put people in jail, can take various actions that the league office is unable to.

"So, we've been cooperating from that point. Naturally, what they announced recently was an indictment.

"Moreover 30 months after, he still hasn't been convicted of any offense, in fairness to Rozier.

"Obviously, it appears unfavorable, but he's been put on administrative leave, and so it is a compromise here between upholding rights and conducting an inquiry."

Elsewhere, Lakers player Luka Doncic recorded over forty points for the second game straight to start the season.

Following racking up forty-three points in a season-opening defeat to the Golden State, the European star put up forty-nine scores - along with 11 boards and 8 passes - as the Lakers beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 128-110.

Greek player Giannis Antetokounmpo additionally had a big night with 31 scores, twenty rebounds and 7 assists in the Bucks' 122 to 116 win at the Toronto Raptors.

Rockets were defeated 115-111 by the Pistons despite thirty-seven points from Kevin Durant, while Wembanyama had twenty-nine points, eleven boards and 9 rejections in the San Antonio Spurs' overtime win against the Pelicans.
