Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday night. The athlete was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his team members.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The boxer had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, his management team had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.

Honoring the Deceased

The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”

His release from the hospital arrives after the boxing community had expressed condolences for the fighter in the wake of the devastating accident.
